SPELLING GOALS
I. Assessment
A. To broaden the students' word bank of correctly spelled words enabling students to express their ideas clearly in writing.
B. To promote the transfer of the spelling words into the students' daily written work.
C. To promote the students' permanent spelling power.
II. Belief Statements
A. Students should be able to decode base words and word forms through structural analysis.
B. Students should apply spelling rules learned to all subject areas.
C. Students should be encouraged to practice word usage and study through visual and auditory means.
D, Spelling is best accomplished by practice in the context of the writing practice.
III. Grade Level Objectives
A. To proofread words in daily writing.
B. To understand meaning and accurately spell words and other word forms.
C. To write spelling words in a meaningful sentence.
